prof. dr hab. Jerzy Lukierski

Jerzy Lukierski ur. 21 maja 1936 w Warszawie zmarł w wieku 90-ciu lat.
Prof. dr hab. Jerzy Lukierski był jednym z najwybitniejszych przedstawicieli polskiej fizyki teoretycznej, od ponad sześciu dekad związany był z Uniwersytetem Wrocławskim. Jego dorobek naukowy, dydaktyczny oraz organizacyjny stanowi trwały i fundamentalny wkład w rozwój tej uczelni oraz całej polskiej nauki.
Prof. Jerzy Lukierski ukończył Uniwersytet Wrocławski w 1957, doktorat obronił w 1961, habilitował się w 1967. W 1983 został profesorem zwyczajnym. Dorobek naukowy Profesora obejmuje przełomowe wyniki w dziedzinie fizyki matematycznej i teorii oddziaływań fundamentalnych. Szczególne znaczenie mają jego prace nad deformacjami kwantowymi symetrii czasoprzestrzeni, w tym wprowadzenie κ-deformacji algebry Poincarégo, które zapoczątkowały szeroko rozwijany kierunek badań nad niekomutatywną strukturą czasoprzestrzeni i kwantową grawitacją. Wyniki te znalazły szerokie uznanie w środowisku międzynarodowym i są intensywnie cytowane, stanowiąc ważny punkt odniesienia dla współczesnych badań nad fundamentami fizyki.
Jego osiągnięcia zostały uhonorowane wieloma prestiżowymi nagrodami, w tym Medalem Mariana Smoluchowskiego przyznawanym za wybitny wkład w rozwój fizyki, a także nagrodami państwowymi i środowiskowymi, co potwierdza jego pozycję jako jednego z liderów polskiej fizyki teoretycznej.
Równie istotny jest wkład Profesora w działalność dydaktyczną i kształcenie kadry naukowej. Jako wieloletni nauczyciel akademicki Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego odegrał kluczową rolę w wychowaniu licznych pokoleń fizyków teoretyków. Jest promotorem 18 doktoratów. Jego działalność dydaktyczna charakteryzuje się wysokim poziomem merytorycznym oraz dbałością o rozwój młodych naukowców, co znacząco przyczyniło się do podniesienia poziomu badań naukowych prowadzonych na uczelni.
Na szczególne podkreślenie zasługuje działalność organizacyjna prof. Jerzego Lukierskiego. Pełnił on przez wiele lat funkcje kierownicze w Instytucie Fizyki Teoretycznej Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego, w tym funkcję dyrektora Instytutu, a wcześniej jego zastępcy. W znaczący sposób przyczynił się do rozwoju tej jednostki oraz umocnienia jej pozycji jako jednego z najważniejszych ośrodków fizyki teoretycznej w Polsce. Był również aktywnym członkiem Komitetu Fizyki Polskiej Akademii Nauk, w tym jego wiceprzewodniczącym, co świadczy o jego wpływie na kształtowanie polityki naukowej w kraju.
Działalność Profesora wykracza poza ramy jednej uczelni – jego osiągnięcia przyczyniły się do rozwoju całego środowiska fizyki teoretycznej w Polsce oraz do zwiększenia międzynarodowej rozpoznawalności polskiej nauki. Łączy on wybitne osiągnięcia naukowe z wieloletnim zaangażowaniem w działalność dydaktyczną i organizacyjną, stanowiąc wzór uczonego i nauczyciela akademickiego.
