The structure and dynamics of hot neutron stars with quark matter cores
This talk will present recent work on the properties of hot compact stars with 2SC quark-matter cores, considering two regimes: one in which neutrinos are trapped, and one in which they stream freely. The radial oscillation modes of these stars have been computed and shown to obey the Bardeen-Thorne-Misner turning-point criterion for stability. The talk concludes with a discussion of the bulk viscosity of neutrino-transparent 2SC matter and its implications for binary neutron star mergers.
