Recent years have witnessed a broad dialogue between field theory and higher structures. Although the origins of this interaction can be traced in classic developments such as the BV/BRST formalism for quantization of gauge theories, a renewed interest was sparked by recent progress in generalised symmetries in field theory, both global and local. In this talk I will discuss in broad strokes some instances of this interaction through the lens of graded geometry and differential graded manifolds.
